Orbit Passage Door Knob Set from the F-Series 3.8 5 5 5
Your standard Knob It's your day-to-day standard door knob. The quality is OK, and easy to install. I use them to replace the 30-year old Schlage. As expected, the old ones are more solid. For the price, I would buy it again. January 7, 2011
Schlage is best! Other brands that I've had just don't compare. Also the customer service at Handlesets.com is very accommodating and professional. September 27, 2010
found the hardware to match the balance of my house, with prompt delivery August 4, 2010
Needs help Nice color, but knob sticks part way though rotation (does not operate smoothly). July 30, 2010
Good quality, but not quite as expected I purchased an F10-ORB from a home improvement store about 4 years ago to replace a failing door knob in my house and was very impressed with its quality, so now that several more door knobs in my house need replacing, I decided to purchase four more of the same style from Handlesets. The appearance and overall quality is the same as the one I purchased 4 years ago, but the "feel" of the mechanism as you rotate these newer door knobs is not as silky smooth as with the older one. The newer knobs tend to "catch" and "jump" a bit while being rotated. I visited the home improvement store where I had purchased the original door knob to see how the action on their current F10-ORB door knobs compared to the ones I had received from Handlesets, just to make sure I had not received ones from a bad batch. The Schlage door knobs at the store seemed to exhibit the same not-so-fluid motion at the ones from Handlesets. I then removed the 4 year old door knob from its door and compared the inner workings to the new knobs. Though very similar, the parts that fit the spindle into the deadlatch on the older door knob appear to have much tighter tolerances then on the new knobs, allowing for much smoother operation. The new F10-ORB door knobs do appear to be good quality, and they may in fact last as long or longer than the original door knobs in my house have. It is just a little disappointing, though, that Schlage changed the design (possibly to reduce cost?) so that the current door knobs don't have the same quality feel in operation as ones they manufactured just a few years ago.
